Over the past few months, I have been personally testing out many air purifying products. This isn’t something new for me because I have been in the HVAC industry few years ago. In fact it gives me immense satisfaction knowing that my reviews will help fellow allergy sufferers from making bad purchases. *Nostalgia*
Okay, so today I’m going to review a purifier which is an excellent option for small spaces. Don’t go by the word ‘small’ because it is powerful enough to keep you safe from all those nasty allergens and infection causing germs. Let me introduce you to the AeraMax 200 air purifier from Fellowes.
Feature of Fellowes AeraMax 200
Advanced Filtration Process
The AreaMax 200 model uses an advanced four stage air purification process to eliminate airborne contaminants. The filtration process first begins by pulling in impure air which is sent through the carbon filter which acts as the first stage of purification. The Carbon filter traps larger sized particles such as dust, human hair, pet hair etc. This filter is made up of activated carbon which has the ability to remove bad odors, smoke molecules from the room air.
After all the bigger particles are removed, the partially filtered air is now sent to the True HEPA Filter. The HEPA filter is capable of removing 99.97 percent of all airborne contaminants whose sizes can be as tiny as 0.3 microns in diameter. Such impurities include lint, pollen grains, mold spores, pet dander, and allergy causing viruses, germs and bacteria. The Hepa filter basically does all the grunt work and is truly the heart of an air purifier.
The third stage is nothing but the trademarked AeraSafe layer which complements the HEPA filter. This kind of an antimicrobial shield which prevents the growth of fungi, mildew and disease causing bacteria on the True Hepa Filter.
In the final stage of filtration the contaminated air passes through an ionized field which utilizes and eliminates the airborne contaminants and trace articles which might have been missed in the initial stages. This model from Fellowes uses the PlasmaTRUE technology in its ioniser. This technology makes sure that no ozone molecules are generated during the ionization process.
Impressive Aera+ Mode
One of the most impressive feature that are found in this AeraMax 200 model air purifier. This model is specifically meant for the peak flu season wherein the possibility of allergies is more. The Aera+ feature when turned ON, quickly increases the air turnover rate by 50%.
In simple terms, the purifiers’ performance increases thus improving its ability to remove allergy causing viruses and germs from the room air.
Recommended for Asthma and Allergy Sufferers
The Fellowes AeraMax 200 has been developed keeping in mind all those people who have a hard time dealing with airborne allergens and asthma. This product is certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and Allergy Standard Limited for maintaining high standards of air purification and thus drastically reducing allergens.
Mind you, the AAFA and ASL certifications are not something that come by easily. The air cleaning product has to meet certain strict standards and should show considerable affect in improving the condition of users suffering from allergies and asthma attacks.
AHAM Certified & CADR
The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers certifies air purifying products based on their ability to remove indoor air contaminants which fall in three broad categories (CADR). This model from Fellowes has a decent Clean Air Delivery Rate which is around 126 for smoke, 129 for dust and close to 124 for pollen. These numbers imply that this is a powerful air cleaner given the fact that it was designed for small living spaces which are typically less than 200 sq. ft.
Ease of Control
Forget the buttons, the Fellowes AeraMax 200 has an interactive touchscreen display wherein you can find the settings to operate it. This includes the AeraSmart Sensor which automatically adjusts the air flow speed based on the level on pollutants indoor. Apart from this, there is the Aera+ Mode, fan speed indicators and the filter replacement indicators.
The bright blue led display is a cool thing to have, but it can sometimes distract you while sleeping!
Overall this is a decent product. I wasn’t able to find any flaws related to performance and cleaning ability. Only the blue led light was something of concern for me since I prefer sleeping in a dark room. Anyways that’s just me, head over to Amazon where you can find hopefully find some good deal on this purifier.
